Elliptical Construction ( Kalimat Gabungan )

Elliptical construction adalah bentuk kalimat majemuk gabungan setara, terjadi penghilangan bagian predikat yang sama dari suatu kalimat.

A. Gabungan Setara (And)

     Dua kalimat positive

Contoh:

She is the member of the club.

I am the member of the club.

→ She is The member of the club and I am too atau She is the member of the club and so am I

B. Dua kalimat negative

Contoh:

Adi doesn’t know the answer.

Dina doesn’t know the answer.

→ Budi doesn’t know the answer not either (neither) does Dina atau  Budi doesn't know the answer and Dina doesn't either

C. Gabungan berlawanan (But/while)

Contoh:

They went there

We didn’t go there

→ They went there but we didn’t
